My Photography Journey
Photography, for me, has always been about connection — capturing travels, documenting moments with friends and family, and on occasion, taking on weddings, graduations, children, pets, and other events that matter deeply to people. I'm selective about these engagements because the relationship between photographer and client has to be right. When it is, something special happens. And when a photo I've taken genuinely engages someone else, I feel it.
I've been behind a camera since I was old enough to hold one. It started with a Kodak Instamatic and a Polaroid, and by seventeen I had my first Nikon. I learned darkroom technique from friends — developing black and white photos, experimenting, staying curious. That curiosity has never left me. Finding new ways to see and capture the world around me is, simply put, one of my great joys.
My early work centered on family and travel. From there, my lens turned to my own kids and their friends — sports, activities, the moments that fly by if you're not paying attention. I shared that work freely, and word spread. People trusted me with events that mattered to them, and I poured myself into every one. The more I shot, the more I learned to truly see — and to translate what I saw into images with meaning.
During these same years I built a full-time consulting career, spending the last two decades working with nonprofit organizations across the country. Helping those who help others has been deeply rewarding, and that work — grounded in empathy, patience, and purpose — quietly shaped my photography in ways I'm still discovering. It taught me the difference between taking a photo and telling a story with one. And when that story connects with someone, I know I've done something that matters.
It's a journey, and I'm always looking forward to what's next.
